Wise, Va. – The Glenville State men's basketball team suffered their second straight loss on the road Saturday to the Cavaliers of UVa-Wise, 105-82.
Glenville State (5-4, 2-4) had a poor day shooting as they shot just 26 percent from deep while UVa-Wise (5-5, 3-3) shot 47 percent from downtown.
The Cavaliers jumped out to an early 18 point lead over the Pioneers, 18-7 with 13:38 left in the first half. GSC tried to cut into the Cavaliers lead however UVa-Wise managed to extended it to 20 points at the 6:54 minute mark, 39-19.
Glenville State made a small run to end the half to cut the deficit to 17 points, 53-36.
In the second half the Pioneers struggled to shoot the ball and were unable to cut into the Cavaliers lead as they ended up falling by 23 points, 105-82.
The Cavaliers won the rebounding battle 62 to 48.
Glenville State had five players reach double figures with
Phil Bledsoe leading the way with 17 points and grabbed nine rebounds.
Howard Smith scored 15 points off the bench while
Jamal Pollydore scored 13 points and had seven boards.
Darhius Nunn and
Ty Robinson both chipped in with 10 points apiece.
Michal Seals scored a game-high 24 points for the Cavaliers while grabbing 15 rebounds and dished out 13 assists for a triple-double. Jordan Pointer and Briggs Parris each scored 19 in the win.
Glenville State (5-4, 2-4) will return to action this Thursday, December 13
th when they host Bluefield State at 1 p.m. from the Waco Center.
