Glenville, W.Va. – The Pioneer baseball team dropped the rubber match of a three game set at Winston-Salem State University on Sunday afternoon.

Brady Wilkinson took the loss on the mound for GSC moving his record to 0-3 on the year. Wilkinson gave up four runs on three hits in three innings on the mound. Four other Pioneer pitchers would see time on the mound against a well-rounded Winston-Salem squad. Defensively, GSC committed three errors. Offensively, the team went 2-for-27 from the plate and drew 10 walks.

WSSU would start the scoring in the bottom of the second inning. Ford would draw a walk for the Rams then steal second and score on an RBI double from Snider. Following the double, Winston-Salem would score two more runs in the inning to give the Rams a 3-0 lead. GSC would answer in the top of the third inning when
Carter Boswell drew a lead-off walk and would eventually score when
John Peloro was walked with the bases loaded. Heading into the fourth inning, GSC would trail the Rams 3-1. In the bottom of the fourth, WSSU would put another run on the board on a solo home run. Following the homer, Freshman
Adam Riggleman would enter the game to pitch for the Pioneers. The rest of the game would be all Rams as they would go on to score eight more runs and defeat the Pioneers, 11-1.

Glenville State (3-6) will be back in action on Friday, March 2
nd as they host Mercyhurst University in a double-header beginning at 1:00 p.m. from the Sue Morris Sports Complex.
