Myrtle Beach, SC. – The Glenville State Lady Pioneer softball team split the final day of competition on at the Fastpitch Dreams Spring Classic in Myrtle Beach, SC on Friday.
Game one, the Lady Pioneers defeated Walsh University 4-3. Glenville State registered just four hits in the contest and committed two errors while Walsh finished the game with nine hits and two errors.
Glenville State scored all four of their runs in the bottom of the third inning as they held on to the victory.
Paranda Uber went 1-for-3 for GSC with three RBI's.
Kim Ellis also went 1-for-3 with a stolen base and Hayley Olsen had the other RBI for the Lady Pioneers.
Tori Ward picked up the win on the mound as she pitched 6.0 innings allowing nine hits, three earned runs, and had three strike outs. Â
Celina Maberto earned the save as she pitched 1.0 inning with one strike out.
In game two of the day, Glenville State fell to Waldorf 4-3. The Lady Pioneers had seven hits but committed nine errors while Waldorf registered two hits and committed one error.
Glenville State took a 2-0 lead in the top of the third as
Paranda Uber hit an RBI single which scored
Kim Ellis and later in the inning
Tori Ward hit an RBI single to left field which scored
Ally Brown.
GSC added another run in the sixth as they took a 3-0 lead as Jerri Potter scored on a wild pitch.
Waldorf scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth as they pulled within one, 3-2. Waldorf then went on to score two more runs in the bottom of the seventh as they defeated the Lady Pioneers 4-3.
Catherine Pelfrey went 3-for-4 for GSC while
Kim Ellis and
Ally Brown each had an RBI.
Ally Brown pitched all 7.0 innings, giving up two hits, four runs, and had just one strike out.
Glenville State (7-7) will return to the diamond on Wednesday, March 14
th when they host Davis & Elkins College in a double-header at 2:00 p.m. from the Sue Morris Sports Complex.
