Fairmont, W.Va. – The GSC Lady Pioneer softball team dropped a double-header on the road Sunday at Fairmont State University falling 5-4 and 8-3.
Glenville State fell behind early as FSU scored two runs in the first and two runs in the second as they led 4-0.
The Lady Pioneers would score two runs in the fourth as
Tori Ward homered to left center as
Hayley Olson crossed the plate but GSC trailed 4-2. Glenville State then tied the game up at 4-4 in the seventh as
Ally Brown hit a sacrifice fly scoring
Cassidy Taylor while
Kim Ellis scored on a wild pitch.
 Fairmont State then scored the winning run in the bottom of the seventh as they took game one, 5-4.
The Lady Pioneers tallied six hits with two errors while the Falcons also had six hits and two errors.
Ally Brown pitched 6.0 innings giving up five runs on six hits with three strike outs.
Kim Ellis went 2-for-4 while
Tori Ward went 2-for-2 with two RBI's.
In game two, FSU would take a big lead over GSC at 6-0 as they scored two runs in the first, three runs in the second, and a run in the third.
The Lady Pioneers got on the board in the fifth as they scored three runs off of five hits as they pulled within three, 6-3. However the Falcons went on to score two more runs in the sixth as they went on to defeat the Lady Pioneers, 8-3.
Kahla Von Bergen pitched 4.0 innings allowing three runs on eight hits with two strike outs.
Kim Ellis went 2-for-3 with two RBI's while
Catherine Pelfrey went 1-for-3 with an RBI.
Glenville State (9-11, 0-4) will return to action this coming Wednesday, March 21
st as they host Alderson Broaddus University in a double-header starting at 3:00 p.m. from the Sue Morris Sports Complex.
