Glenville, W.Va. – The GSC Lady Pioneer Softball team dropped a home double-header on Sunday afternoon to the Cavaliers of UVa-Wise.
Game one, Glenville State took a 2-0 lead in the second inning as
Tori Ward hit a solo homerun, her second of the year.
Hayley Olson would later single in the inning to center field as
Hannah Wright scored.
UVa-Wise got on the scoreboard in the fourth with Taylor Creasey singling to right field scoring Samantha Ely, as they made it 2-1.
The Cavaliers then took a 4-2 lead in the sixth off of a three run homer from Creasey.
Glenville State proceeded to get three straight outs in the seventh as they fell 4-2.
The Lady Pioneers tallied five hits while the Cavaliers also recorded five hits.
Tori Ward pitched 6.0 innings allowing four runs on five hits with four strike outs. Ward also went 1-for-3 with a homerun.
Hayley Olson finished the game 1-for-3 with an RBI.
In game two, again, GSC jumped out to a lead; this time at 3-0 as we headed into the fourth inning.
The Cavaliers then took their first lead in the top of the fourth, at 4-3, off of two hits while GSC also committed two errors in the inning. But the Lady Pioneers came right back in the bottom of the fourth and tied it up at 4-4 as

Catherine Pelfrey.Â
However, after the tie UVa-Wise added a run in the fifth and four more in the seventh as they went on to take game two from GSC, 9-4.
The Lady Pioneers registered eight hits and committed four errors while the Cardinals had 13 hits and two errors.
Ally Brown pitched 6.0 innings allowing four runs on nine hits and struck out six batters.
Catherine Pelfrey went 2-for-3 with an RBI while
Ally Brown went 2-for-4 with an RBI.
Hayley Olson also recorded an RBI in the game as she went 1-for-3 from the plate.
Glenville State (10-14, 1-7) will return to action this coming Tuesday, March 27, when they travel to Salem International for a 2:00 p.m. double-header.
