Glenville, W.Va. – The Glenville State Lady Pioneer softball team took a pair of games from the Battlers of Alderson Broaddus University at home on Monday afternoon.
Game one would go to the Lady Pioneers by a final of 6-1. GSC recorded six hits and committed two errors while AB also finished with six hits and also committed two errors.
The Battlers would strike first in the first inning as they led 1-0; however that would end up being their only run of the contest Â
Glenville State scored three runs in the second to take a 3-1 lead.
Cassidy Taylor would score
McKenzie Edmonds and
Hannah Wright as the Battlers would commit one of their two errors. Later, in the same inning,
Kim Ellis tripled to center field as
Cassidy Taylor crossed the plate.
GSC added two more runs in the fifth with
Paranda Uber reaching on an error as Catherin Pelfrey scored and
Hannah Wright singled to center field scoring Paranda as they went up 5-1.
The Lady Pioneers added their final run in the sixth off of single by
Kim Ellis which scored
McKenzie Edmonds as GSC went on to defeat the Battlers 6-1.
Ally Brown picked up her ninth win on the mound. She pitched the entire game allowing one run on six hits while striking out six batters.
Kim Ellis went 2-for-3 with two RBI while
Paranda Uber,
Hannah Wright, and
Cassidy Taylor all had an RBI.
Game two was dominated by the Lady Pioneers as they completed the sweep winning 13-6.
Glenville State registered 14 hits while allowing the Battlers nine hits.
The Lady Pioneers bats would get off to a hot start as they scored four runs in the first and four runs in the second as they jumped out to an 8-0 lead.
Alderson Broaddus would get their bats rolling in the fourth as they scored six runs off of six hits as they cut GSC's lead to just two, 8-6.
The Lady Pioneers would again make separation in the bottom of the sixth as they scored five runs to take a 13-6 run. The scoring would start in the sixth with a double by
Paranda Uber scoring
Kim Ellis.
Paranda Uber would then score as Hannah right doubled to center field. Â Later,
Celina Maberto would go deep hitting her first career home run as she also scored
Hannah Wright. And finally
Hayley Olson doubled to score
McKenzie Edmonds.
Glenville State held AB scoreless in the seventh as they went on to take game two, 13-6. Â Â
Tori Ward earned her sixth win on the mound as she pitched 3.1 innings allowing six runs on five hits while
Celina Maberto earned her second save of the year.
Kim Ellis went 2-for-2 while
Paranda Uber went 3-for-4 with two RBI.
Hannah Wright went 2-for-4 with two RBI while
Hayley Olson went 3-for-4 with four RBI.
Glenville State (15-15, 4-8) will host the Bobcats of West Virginia Wesleyan on Wednesday, April 4 at 4:00 p.m. in a double-header.
