Glenville, W.Va. – The GSC Lady Pioneer softball team dropped a double-header to the Bobcats of West Virginia Wesleyan on a chilly and windy Wednesday night.
Game one would belong to the Bobcats as they defeated the Lady Pioneers, 4-1.
Glenville State out hit West Virginia Wesleyan as they tallied six hits to the Bobcats five. However GSC committed the only error in the contest.
WVWC jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the first inning. The Bobcats added another run in the second as they led 4-0.
Glenville State's lone run came in the sixth inning as
Ally Brown doubled to left field scoring
Makenna Nickell making it 4-1.
Ally Brown pitched the entire contest allowing four runs on five hits while striking out one batter.
Kim Ellis went 1-for-3 while
Hannah Wright went 2-for-3.
Ally Brown went 1-for-3 with the only RBI.
Game two would see the Bobcats jump out to an early lead again after the first inning, 2-0.
Glenville State would cut the lead to one run in the third as
Ally Brown hit her second home run of the year making it 2-1.
The Bobcats added two more runs in the fifth off of a two run double as they went up 4-1.
GSC answered back in the fifth as
Hannah Wright hit a two run home run, her fourth of the year, scoring
Jeri Potter as they again pulled within one run, 4-3.
West Virginia Wesleyan however went on to score two more runs in the sixth and held GSC scoreless in the last two innings as they defeated the Lady Pioneers, 6-3.
GSC tallied nine hits in the contest to WVWC's 10. The Lady Pioneers committed three errors while the Bobcats had one error.
Tori Ward pitched 5.0 innings allowing six runs on eight hits with two strike outs.
Ally Brown went 1-for-3 with an RBI while
Hannah Wright continued her strong play as she went 3-for-4 with an RBI.
Glenville State (15-17, 4-10) travels to the University of Charleston this Friday, April 6 for a 2:00 p.m. double-header with the Golden Eagles.
