Charleston, W.Va. – The Lady Pioneer softball team split two games on the road at the University of Charleston on Friday afternoon. Game one went to GSC by a final score of 7-2. Game two went to the Golden Eagles by a final score of 6-0.
Ally Brown got the start in game one and picked up her 10
th win of the season. Throwing seven innings, Brown gave up six hits while the GSC defense committed one error.
GSC scored one run in the top of the first inning as
Ally Brown bunted for a single scoring
Paranda Uber. UC would come back and take a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the first.
In the top of the second inning, GSC would plate two more runs as
Catherine Pelfrey would record a two RBI single to left-field scoring
Hayley Olson and
Tori Ward as they took a 3-2 lead.
GSC then scored two more runs in the top of the sixth-inning as Olson would single to right field scoring Mackenzie Edmonds.
Cassidy Taylor would then single to left to scoring Ward making it 5-2.
In the top of the seventh inning, GSC would score another two runs on a Ward single to right field.
Hannah Wright and Uber would score on the hit as the Lady Pioneers took game one, 7-2.
Game two, belonged to UC by a final score of 6-0.
Tori Ward took the loss on the mound. GSC gave up six runs on nine hits. GSC committed three errors in the field.
Scoring was all Charleston as they were able to score runs in the third, fourth, and fifth innings.
Glenville State recorded just two hits in game two of the afternoon.
The Lady Pioneers (16-18, 5-11) will return to action on Sunday, April 8 when they travel to West Virginia State University for a 1:00 p.m. double-header.
