Glenville, W.Va. – The Glenville State Lady Pioneer soccer team fell at home on Wednesday evening to the West Virginia Wesleyan Bobcats by a final of 9-0.
GSC (0-5-0) recorded six total shots while West Virginia Wesleyan (3-1-0) finished the game with 42 total shots.
The Bobcats would strike early in the first half at the 4:29 minute mark and then again at the 27:12 mark as they took a 2-0 lead.
Glenville State's
Kacey Evans had a chance at a goal midway through the first on a breakaway. However, her shot would go wide left.
West Virginia Wesleyan then struck again at the 36:30 minute mark as Marissa Zetty scored on an unassisted goal as the Bobcats led, 3-0. The Bobcats then added two more goals at the 39:45 and 42:46 minute mark as they took a 5-0 lead.
At the break GSC had just one shot on goal while WVWC had 22 shots in the first half.
In the second half GSC would try and counter West Virginia Wesleyan's attack but the Bobcats would prove to be too much on the evening as they scored six second half goals as the Lady Pioneers fell, 9-0.
GSC had just one corner kick while WVWC had 10 in the game.
Haylie Reynolds had two shots in the game while
Julia Lesko and
Kacey Evans each recorded a shot.
The Bobcats had eight different players score in the game while Marissa Zetty recorded two goals on the night.
Glenville State (0-5-0) will hit the road this Sunday, September 16
th when they travel to the University of Charleston for a 1 p.m. matchup with the Golden Eagles.Â
