Shepherdstown, W.Va. – On Saturday the Glenville State Pioneer football team suffered a tough road loss, 41-24, to the Shepherd University Rams.

The Rams then drove 50 yards on eight plays as Tyson Bagent hit Greg Leonard on a 10 yard touchdown pitch and catch as Shepherd led, 7-0.

Shepherd offense then drove down into the Pioneers territory. However the GSC defense would bend but not break as they kept the Rams out of the endzone. Shepherd then attempted a 39 yard field goal. The Pioneers defense came up big as Quintavius Twine blocked the field goal and Keevin Gillard scooped it up and returned it 20 yards to the Rams 45 yard line. The first quarter would come to an end as the Pioneers trailed the Rams, 7-0.

Glenville State could not capitalize on the blocked field goal. Then later in the second quarter GSC missed out again on another scoring attempt as Justin Watts would miss a 32 yard field goal attempt. Shepherd would make them pay as Bagent and Leonard hooked up for the second time in the game, this time from 13 yards out, as the Rams took a 14-0 lead with 4:39 to play until halftime.

The Rams added one more score before the break, a one yard TD run by Bagent, as Shepherd led the Pioneers, 21-0 at the break.

Shepherd started the third quarter with a score at the 13:01 minute mark. Bagnet tossed his third touchdown pass of the game, this one from 47 yards out, as he hit Dylan Brewer as the Rams led 27-0.

Glenville State's defense would get the Pioneers on the scoreboard as Samuel Thomas intercepted Bagnet and returned it 25 yards to the endzone making it, 27-7 with 6:56 to play in the third. However, Shepherd would respond when they then drove 78 yards on 11 plays as they went up by four scores, 34-7.

It only took the Pioneers one play to answer as Jaylen McNair hit Javon Butler on a 75 yard touchdown bomb as they made it, 34-14 heading into the fourth quarter.
