Lady Pioneer Soccer Drops Home Contest to Shepherd Rams

Glenville, W.Va. – The GSC Lady Pioneer soccer team fell to the Shepherd University Rams at home on Sunday afternoon, 4-0.

Glenville State (0-10-0, 0-6-0) had four shots on the afternoon while Shepherd (3-6-0, 2-3-0) totaled 30 in the game.

In the first half of action, the Lady Pioneers tallied four shots while Shepherd totaled 13 shots.

GSC's Kacey Evans had a chance to put the Lady Pioneers on the scoreboard at the 2:40 mark but her shot went wide right.

The Rams struck first at the 10:09 minute mark as Darien Ball scored on an assist from Elishia Davis as SU took a 1-0 lead. Shepherd then added another score, this one coming at the 16:05 mark, as Alyssa Lester scored on an assist from Brogan Pifer as GSC trailed, 2-0.  

Shepherd went on to add two more goals before the halftime break as the Lady Pioneers trailed 4-0.

GSC would shutout the Rams in the second half however the Lady Pioneers could not find their offense as they fell, 4-0.

Shepherd had 17 shots in the second half for a total of 30 in the contest while GSC did not have a shot in the second and finished with four total shots on the day.

Glenville State had just one corner kick on the afternoon while Shepherd had a total of four.

GSC's Kacey Evans had two shots in the game while Alysia Maguellal had one shot.

Goalie, Alyssa Banks had two saves and allowed four goals while fellow goalkeeper Morgan Smailes had 11 saves. 

Alyssa Lester had six shots for Shepherd with three on goal and scored a goal.  

Glenville State (0-10-0, 0-6-0) will return to action at home on Thursday, October 4th when they host the Cardinals of Wheeling Jesuit University at 7 p.m.
