Pioneers Suffer Tough Road Loss at the Hands of Notre Dame College

South Euclid, Oh. - The Glenville State Pioneer basketball team went on the road Thursday and fell to the Notre Dame College Falcons, 109-81. 

Glenville State (7-6, 2-5 MEC) shot 40 percent from the field but went just 13-of-34 from behind the arc for 28 percent in the contest. Notre Dame (9-4, 5-2 MEC) went 45-of-81 for 55 percent from the field and shot 36 percent from deep. 

Notre Dame held an early four point lead over GSC in the first at the 16:51 minute mark, 9-5. However, the Falcons then scored the next 15 points as they built a 24-5 lead. GSC's Phil Bledsoe final ended NDC's run with a three-pointer at the 13:14 mark as GSC trailed, 24-8. 

Glenville State tried to chip away at Notre Dame's lead however the Falcons made another huge run this time outscoring the Pioneers 18-6 as GSC trailed, 42-14. GSC's Kalin Johnson ended the Falcons run this time with a three-pointer at the 6:11 minute mark as the Pioneers made it, 42-17.  

Notre Dame then ended the firat half on a 14-10 run as they held a 29 point lead over the Pioneers, 56-27 at intermission.  

The Pioneers and Falcons traded several baskets to start the second half. Again, Notre Dame went on another run this time outscoring GSC 21-18 as they held a 77-42 lead with 14:06 to play.  

Glenville State managed to outscore Notre Dame in the second half, 54-53, but it wasn't enough as the Pioneers fell to the Falcons by 28 points, 109-81.  

The Pioneers turned the ball over 16 times while NDC turned it over nine times on the night. The Falcons scored 27 points from the Pioneers turnovers. 

Notre Dame had the advantage on the inside outscoring Glenville State 50 to 30 in the paint and also won the rebounding battle by three, 43-40.  

Phil Bledsoe and Jamal Pollydore paced the Pioneers as they each poured in 25 points. Bledsoe also posted a double-double as he grabbed 10 rebounds. Kalin Johnson chipped in with 10 points for GSC. 

Will Vorhees and Drew Scarberry each scored 23 points in the contest while Vorhees finished with a double-double pulling down 13 rebounds. Halil Parks chipped in with 12 points.  

Glenville State (7-6, 2-5 MEC) will look to bounce back this Saturday, January 12th at Urbana University. Tip-off is set for 4:00 p.m. against the Blue Knights.
