South Euclid, Oh. - The Glenville State Lady Pioneer basketball team went on the road Thursday and outscored NDC 35-16 in the fourth as they came from behind to defeat the Notre Dame College Falcons, 99-85.Â
Glenville State (11-2, 6-1 MEC) had a great night shooting the ball as they shot 48 percent from the floor and 46 percent from deep netting 13-of-28 three-pointers. Notre Dame (7-6, 4-3 MEC) shot 41 percent from the field but went just 8-of-29 from deep for 27 percent on the night. Â
The Lady Pioneers held an early 4-2 lead over NDC however the Falcons then went on a 12-0 run as they then built a 10 point lead over GSC, 14-4. Glenville State's Emily Stoller finally ended the run as she drilled a three-pointer at the 7:53 minute mark as they trailed, 14-7. Â
Glenville State then ended the first quarter on a 16-11 run as they pulled within two points, 25-23, as we headed into the second. Â
In the second quarter GSC managed to tie the contest up at 32 all at the 6:08 minute mark. However, Notre Dame still was able to hold onto a small lead before stretching it to six, 48-42 at halftime. Â
The third quarter saw Notre Dame outscore GSC 16-12 to start as the Lady Pioneers fell behind by a 10 point deficit, 64-54, with 3:48 to play. But again, Glenville State made a run of their own outscoring NDC 10-5 to end the third as they pulled within five, 69-64 as we headed into the fourth. Â
Glenville State started the final quarter on a 16-12 run as they pulled within one, 81-80 at the 4:53 mark, as Re'Shawna Stone netted a three-pointer. The Lady Pioneers gained the lead after a defensive stop by GSC Abby Stoller, 82-81, as she netted two free-throws.Â
After two more made free-throws, this time by GSC's Emily Stoller, the Lady Pioneers offense got rolling outscoring NDC 15-4 to end the game. The Pioneers came from behind to earn the 14 point road victory, 99-85.Â
Glenville State trailed for most of the contest as NDC led for 34:58 on the night. The Lady Pioneers scored 19 fast break points while the Falcons had 12. GSC's bench outscored NDC's bench 43-21 in the contest. Â
With the win, GSC Head Coach Kim Stephens earned her 46th conference win and 66th overall. Â
Glenville State had five players score in double figures with freshman guard Re'Shawna Stone leading the way with 17 points and seven rebounds. Â
Emily Stoller and Taychaun Hubbard each chipped in with 14 points apiece. Blaize Burgess scored 13 points as she went 3-of-4 from behind the arc while Zakiyah Winfield scored 10 points.Â
Notre Dame was led by Seina Adachi as she scored a game-high 21 points while Jessie Stout posted a double-double scoring 15 points while grabbing 17 rebounds. Â
Glenville State (11-2, 6-1 MEC) will now travel to Urbana, Ohio for a 2:00 p.m. tip-off with the Urbana University Blue Knights this Saturday.Â
