Lady Pioneers Roll in 41 Point Win at WVWC

Buckhannon, W.Va. – The Glenville State Lady Pioneers jumped out to a 19 point halftime lead and never looked back as they cruised to a 109-68 win on the road over the Bobcats of West Virginia Wesleyan.

Glenville State (16-2, 11-1) forced West Virginia Wesleyan (4-11, 4-8) into 21 turnovers while scoring 22 points off of them.

After a back and forth first quarter the Lady Pioneers held a six point lead, 26-20. GSC made separation in the second quarter as they outscored the Bobcats, 30-17, and took a 56-37 lead into halftime.

Glenville State added to their lead in the third as they went on a 14-2 run and eventually outscored WVWC in the quarter, 25-12. The Lady Pioneers also outscored the Bobcats in the fourth 28-19, as they cruised to a 41 point road victory.

The Lady Pioneers shot 45 percent from the field and 36 percent from deep as they hit just nine three-pointers. West Virginia Wesleyan finished the day shooting 42 percent from the field and went 0-for-8 from deep.

Glenville State dominated the boards and the paint. GSC outrebound WVWC by 20, 58-38, and outscored the Bobcats on the inside, 52-24.

GSC's largest lead of the game was 45 points which came in the fourth quarte. The Bobcats largest lead was two points which came in early in the first.

Emily Stoller scored a game-high 22 points and grabbed six rebounds while Re'Shawna Stone chipped in with 21 points and dished out seven assists. Zakiyah Winfield and Donasja Scott each scored 13 points while Ty Armstrong and Taychaun Hubbard each finished with nine points.

Abby Stoller had a team-high seven rebounds and four steals.

West Virginia Wesleyan was led by Nicole Gilyard as she finished with 18 points and five assits while Carrie Barnett chipped in with 12 points.

Glenville State (16-2, 11-1) will hit the road on Wednesday, January 30th for a huge MEC matchup with the Concord University Mountain Lions. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m.
