Glenville, W.Va. – The Lady Pioneers Volleyball traveled to Charleston, West Virginia to face off against the Golden Eagles of University of Charleston in a MEC Conference match up. The Lady Pioneers (2-14,0-4 MEC) fall on the road in three straight sets while trying to regain control in the third set (25-21, 25-11, and 27-25).

In the first set, the Golden Eagles would take a quick lead 5-1 before the Lady Pioneers would attempt to regain control to close the gap 18-13. However, the Blue and White would fall 25-21 as Jyra Clark-Casto and Karlei Shaver would lead the set with five kills each. Madison Shepherd and Lindsay Winkler would dig out five and four digs respectively.

In the second set, UC would use their momentum to gain a quick 12-3 lead before finalizing the score 25-11. Shaver would add another two kills and Clark-Casto and Mace would add one kill each.

In search of a comeback the Lady Pioneers would fight point by point against UC before the Golden Eagles would take the first three-point lead 19-16. The Blue and White would again regain control to take the lead 20-19 prior falling behind in a battle 27-25.

GSC would be out killed by UC 45-35 as Shaver would lead with 13 kills with Clark-Casto following behind at eight.

Winkler would lead the Blue and White with 11 digs.

Sophie Shifferly would count the only service ace for GSC in the match.

The Blue and White will continue their away series against West Virginia State, Saturday morning at 10am.
