Glenville, W.Va. – With the game in overtime and knotted at 2-2, GSC's
Leighana Weaver would score the winning goal at the 95:18-minute mark. Lifting the Lady Pioneers to a 3-2 victory over Wheeling University (0-14, 0-11 MEC).
The Glenville State Lady Pioneer soccer team had many firsts on Sunday in the win. It marked the first conference win for Glenville State (3-11, 1-9 MEC). It was also the first win at Morris Stadium, the first ever goals scored at home, and not to mention
Leighana Weaver's hat trick is the first in school history.
GSC would strike first at the 27:18-minute mark as Weaver slashed her way up the field putting GSC up 1-0. Then at 36:50 mark
Miki Abe found Weaver for her second goal as she put the Lady Pioneers up 2-0.
Glenville State took the 2-0 lead into halftime.
Wheeling came out strong in the second half and pulled within one, 2-1. On a corner kick Allyson Evans found Shiann Thomas as Thomas finished with the header at the 68:44-minute mark.
The Cardinals were able to tie it up at 2-2 when Marley Magruder scored off of an assist from Micah Miller at the 76:36 mark.
Neither team could score in regulation as we headed into OT. GSC then ended the match on Weaver's third and final goal of the day.
Glenville State tallied 14 total shots while Wheeling finished with 16.

Leighana Weaver fished the game with five shots, four on goal and three goals.
Carley Midkiff finished with three shots while
Julia Lesko had two shots.
Megan Herter had three saves for the Cardinals.
Marley Margruder had five shots with one goal and Shiann Thomas finished with two shots and a goal.
Glenville State (3-11, 1-9 MEC) will return to action this Wednesday, October 30th when they travel to West Liberty University for a 7 p.m. matchup with the Hilltoppers.
