Pioneers Earn Second Century Mark Victory with Win Over Carlow

Glenville, W.Va. – The Glenville State Pioneers hit their second century mark of the season, hosting the Celtics of Carlow University. The Blue and White improve their record to 3-0 on the year, where Carlow falls to 0-5. The Pioneers defeat the Celtics 146-75, as the Pioneers held a 76-point lead.
 
Steven Verplancken earned his first double-double as a Pioneer with 23 points and 10 rebounds.
 
Noah Frampton, Phil Bledsoe and Verplancken would start the game early with buckets from behind the arc to get an early 9-0 lead over the Celtics.
 
The Celtics would be fouled early to gain their first three points of the game, the Blue and White respond by going on an 18-3 run to lead 27-3 with 14:11 left in the first half.
 
The Pioneers would extend their lead to 39-8 by going on a 15-5 run with dunks by Rodney Ray and Ty Robinson at the 10:41 minute mark.
 
The Blue and White made separation while leading the Celtics by 45 with 2:59 left in the first half by going on a 26-12 run. During the run, Bledsoe scored eight, with Najee Scott and Verplancken following behind with six a piece. The Pioneers would have a 63-21 advantage.
 
Before going into the half, Tyvon Taylor and Ty Robinson would notch a three-pointer and a dunk to extend a 50-point lead, a game high, leading 75-25.
 
Glenville shot 52% going 26-for-50 with 10-for-24 behind the arc, where as Carlow was just 9-for-33 from the field.
 
Phil Bledsoe lead the half with 19 points with two assists and three rebounds. Steven Verplancken would go 5-for-5 from behind the arc with a total of 15 points in the first.
 
Najee Scott and Ty Robinson would both have a block each. Tyvon Taylor notched six assists.
 
The two minutes of the second half would be scoreless by both teams before Taylor scored the first bucket from behind the arc. Carlow would respond back by scoring their first layup up the half, Pioneers still prominent in their 78-27 lead.
 
Carlow would go on a small 4-2 run, the first Celtic run, still trailing 80-29. Both teams would trade baskets going back and forth at 16 and 15 a piece, Pioneers still maintaining their 54-point lead at 96-42.
 
Verplancken would connect with Bledsoe to hit the Pioneer century mark with a lay up to lead 100-44.
 
GSC and CU then went back and forth trading several baskets at ten a piece as the Pioneers lead 112-54 with 9:16 left of play. The Blue and White, mimicking the first half would go on another 18-4 run with buckets by Victor Meeks, Jeager Martino and Seth Fallon to lead 128-54.
 
Nick Nutter would add to the Pioneers score after being fouled with two baskets from the line to lead 135-65. Noah Harris would add seven points to end the game with a Pioneer win of 146-75.
 
Glenville State shot 53-of-107 gaining 39 fast break points with 65 total rebounds, where Carlow went 26-for-71 with 41 rebounds.
 
Bledsoe lead the Blue and white with 29 total points on the night, with Rodney Ray following behind at 18 points on the night.
 
Ty Robinson regained 14 rebounds with two blocks, with Tyvon Taylor having seven assist on the day, scoring ten total points.  
 
Noah Frampton and Hagel Austin both notched ten buckets a piece.
 
The Blue and White will return to action, Saturday November 10th at 4pm to face off against the Yellow Jackets of West Virginia State in the first conference matchup of the season.
