Glenville, W.Va. – GSC women's soccer end their away season on a loss but with hitting numbers. Though the Lady Pioneers fell to the Blue Knights of Urbana University they were able to get by the Urbana defense scoring another three goals to the season.
The Lady Pioneers fall to 3-14 on the year after the 6-3 loss while Urbana improves to 7-8-1
In the first half, the Lady Pioneers would be out shot 10-5 with only having on net by
Leighana Weaver. Within those ten shots, the Blue Knights would get an early 4-0 lead.
Heidi Hunter was ready to attack in the second half as she scored her second goal of the season at the 50-minute mark in the low right corner assisted by Weaver. The Blue and White would continue their momentum to score another goal at the 65' being
Abigail Dye's first on the year. Weaver would get ahead of the Urbana defense finding a gap to Dye as she connected low and right.
The Blue Knight defense would answer back scoring their fifth goal. However, with 15 minutes left in the match,
Miki Abe would take a penalty kick to score the last Blue and White goal.
The match would end 6-3 as Alyssa Edwards of Urbana scored the last goal of the match.
Morgan Smailes would tally another seven saves on the season.
The Lady Pioneers would total 15 shots with five on target by Weaver, Abe, Hunter and Dye.
The Lady Pioneers will return home for the final match of the season as they host Concord in a conference battle November 10
th at 12pm. We will honor four seniors;

Alyssa Banks.
