Lady Pioneers Break All-Time Record for Points in a Half in Win Over Frostburg State

Glenville, W.Va. – Glenville State hits the century mark for the fourth time this season as they are victorious over the Bobcats of Frostburg State University (1-9, 1-4 MEC). GSC improves to 6-3 on the year and 4-1 in conference.
 
The Lady Pioneers would break the NCAA DII All-Time women's record for point in a half as they scored 88 points. The prior leader was West Texas A&M with 86 points in the half played back on November 29th in 2001.
 
How It Happened
 
First Quarter:
 
The Lady Pioneers opened the contest early going on a 12-2 run. Re'Shawna Stone began the run by scoring from deep, followed by a layup and jumper from Kaneishia Afi and Zakiyah Winfield.
 
From there, the Lady Pioneers would add another 13-3 run to push their advantage to 22-5. Lucille Westfall would knock down a triple followed by two layups by Victoria Brown and Taychaun Hubbard.
 
Mashayla Cecil would knock down a triple to end the first quarter leading 45-15.
 
Second Quarter:
 
Brown and Afi would start the second with back to back layups to keep the Lady Pioneer momentum. Both teams would swop baskets but maintaining their 63-22 lead.
 
Brown would go 2-for-2 at the stripe followed by triple from Emily Stoller to send the Bobcats into the locker room trailing 88-36.
 
GSC would shoot 58% from the floor going 13-24 from deep as Emily Stoller would lead the Lady Pioneers at the half with 16 total points.
 
FSU shot less than 40% form the field going 3-for-7 from deep.
 
Third Quarter:
 
Winfield connected with Kaylee Pierce to open the second half with a layup and three-pointer by Emily Stoller to push their lead to a 54 advantage.
 
Afi would make a layup to hit the century mark for the Lady Pioneers.
 
FSU would end the third by going on a short 8-2 run as the Lady Pioneers lead 102-56.
 
Fourth Quarter:
 
Makayla Pierce and Alexis Wise would add back to back layups to push the score 108-65.
 
Makayla Pierce would then connect with Cecil for a three pointer and layup connected by Abby Stoller.
 
Sister Kaylee Pierce would go 2-for-2 at the strip followed by a back to back triples to end the contest 129-76.
 
Inside the Box Score
 
The Lady Pioneers finished the contest shooting 51% followed by 18 total buckets from deep.
 
The Blue and White totaled 79 bench points and 15 steals.
 
Emily Stoller lead the Blue and White with 19 total points and four steals followed by Re'Shawna Stone and Zakiyah Winfield who tallied 14 and 13 points respectively.
 
Victoria Brown would lead with four assists as Abby Stoller, Taychaun Hubbard, Mashayla Cecil, and Kaneshia Afi all had three assist on the night.
 
Lucille Westfall shot 4-for-4 on the night going 1-for-1 on the night.
 
The Bobcats shot 44% from the floor and was lead by Ciara Thomas.
