Glenville, W.Va. – The Lady Pioneers improved to 7-4 overall defeating the Celtics of Carlow (6-9) University 145-64 scoring the most Lady Pioneer points in the Waco Center.
Re'Shawna Stone lead the Blue and White with a season high 27 points, six rebounds and three assists.
How It Happened
First Quarter:
Taychaun Hubbard would open the contest early with back to back buckets from deep followed by a lay up from
Emily Stoller to put the Lady Pioneers up early 8-2.
The Blue and White momentum would continue as
Emily Stoller would score another shot from behind the arc followed by a jumper by Re'Shawna Stone to push their advantage 26-9 with 3:20 reaming in the quarter.
Kaylee Peirce's layup would push their first 20-point lead followed by a triple from
Lucille Westfall.
GSC would end the first quarter leading 38-17.
Second Quarter:
Mimicking the first quarter, the Blue and White went on an 8-2 run with triples by
Emily Stoller and Kylee Pierce.
Victoria Brown would go on a 5-0 run herself with a shot from deep followed by a layup, GSC would lead 51-19 early in the second with 6:50 remaining in the half.
Both teams continued to trade baskets before the half with buckets by
Abby Stoller, Stone and Brown to send the Celtics to the locker room trailing 74-36.
GSC shot 29-for-60 from the field and 40% from deep where Carlow only shot 30% from the floor and 3-for-12 from deep.
Third Quarter:
The Blue and White started the third on a 12-2 run with back to back buckets from
Abby Stoller and Re'Shawna Stone to push the Lady Pioneers up 86-38.
Stone would convert a pair from the stripe to hit the century mark leading the Celtics 101-45 with under three minutes remaining in the third.
Mashayla Cecil would add to the Blue and White score with and added triple from deep.
GSC leads 110-49 at the end of the third.
Fourth Quarter:
The Blue and White went on a 15-5 run to start the fourth their lead to 71, 125-54.
Makayla Pierce,
Kaylee Pierce and
Mashayla Cecil would add to the Blue and White scoring to lead the Celtics 132-60 with 2:30 remaining in the contest.
The Pierce sisters would go on a 11-2 run to defeat the Celtics 145-64.
Inside The Box Score
The Blue and White shot 52% from the field with just 16-for-44 from behind the arc. GSC forced Carlow into 26 turn overs scoring 38 fastbreak points and 26 second chance points.
Ty Armstrong totaled 17 points shooting 7-for-12 from the field, totaling five assists and two steals.
Kaylee Pierce set a career high scoring 16 total points.
Carlow shot just 32% from the floor and 18% from deep. The Celtics did not score any fast break points and only 24 points in the paint.
The Celtics was lead by Megan Ost who scored 11 points.
