No. 19 Lady Pioneers Dismantles Blue Knights of Urbana

Glenville, W.Va. – The No. 19 Glenville State Lady Pioneers picked up their 36th straight win at the Waco Center on Saturday as they defeated the Urbana University Blue Knights by 32 points, 117-85.

Glenville State (22-2, 17-1) netted 15 three-pointers and forced Urbana (3-19, 3-15) into 22 turnovers on the way to the victory.

The Lady Pioneers fell behind 2-0 early as Sa'Dera Johnson hit two free-throws. After that GSC never trailed again in the contest.

Glenville State outscored Urbana 38-21 in the first quarter. The outscoring continued in the second quarter,37-24, as they took a 30-point lead into halftime, 75-45.

The Lady Pioneers scored 29 points in the third while Urbana scored 18 as GSC led 104-63 heading into the fourth. The Blue Knights did outscore the Pioneers in the fourth 22-13.

GSC's largest lead of the game was 44 points which came in the third quarter.

Glenville State scored 35 points off of 22 turnovers and outscored the Blue Knights 51-44 in the paint.

The Lady Pioneers shot 47 percent from the field and 30 percent from deep. Urbana finished the day shooting 42 percent from the field and 27 percent from deep.

Glenville State had four players in double figures with Ty Armstrong scoring a game-high 24 points as she hit six three-pointers. Ty also pulled down five rebounds and had two assists. Re'Shawna Stone chipped in with 23 points and five rebounds. Emily Stoller finished with 15 points.

Zakiyah Winfield finished with 12 points and four steals. Courtney Davis pulled down a game-high eight rebounds. GSC had 12 players score in the game.

Urbana was led by Sa'Dera Johnson as she scored 16 points and had six rebounds while Nikki Current chipped in with 11 points.

Glenville State (22-2, 17-1) will return to action on Wednesday, February 20th as they travel to Wheeling Jesuit University for a 5:30 p.m. matchup with the Cardinals.
