Glenville, W.Va. – The Glenville State Pioneer basketball team fell to the West Liberty University Hilltoppers at home on Saturday by 21, 98-77.
Glenville State (10-16, 5-15) shot 43 percent from the floor and 31 percent from deep as they went 12-for-38. West Liberty (22-3, 18-2) shot 44 percent from the field and also went 31 percent from deep as they went 14-of-45.
Early in the contest the Pioneers and Hilltoppers went back and forth with GSC holding a three-point lead, 11-8 with 15:33 to play until halftime. However, West Liberty then made separation as they went on a 26-0 run and built a 23 point lead, 34-11 with 8:53 left in the first half.

Elisha Mayberry finally ended the drought for the Pioneers as he netted a three at the 7:04 mark, 34-14. But the Pioneers then went on a run of their own to end the half outscoring West Liberty 18-10 as they pulled within 12 at the half, 44-32.
The Hilltoppers started the second half on an 18-10 run as WLU went back by 20 at the 14:18 minute mark, 62-42. That run by the Hilltoppers would prove to be too much as they outscored the Pioneers 54-45 in the second half as GSC fell, 98-77.
The game saw four ties and three lead changes. West Liberty's largest lead was by 28 points while Glenville State's was three.
West Liberty had 18 second chance points while Glenville State had eight.
Phil Bledsoe posted his 14
th double-double as he scored a game-high 30 points and grabbing 14 rebounds.
Elisha Mayberry finished with 14 points and seven rebounds while
Jamal Pollydore chipped in with 12 points and six assists.
West Liberty had five players in double figures with Dalton Bolon leading the way with 21 points and nine rebounds. Eric Meininger posted a double-double scoring 12 points and grabbing 12 rebounds.
Glenville State (10-16, 5-15) will return to action on Wednesday, February 27
th when they travel to Shepherd University for a 7:30 p.m. matchup with the Rams. Â
