Glenville, W.Va. – The GSC Lady Pioneer softball team took a doubleheader from the Alderson Broaddus University Battlers at home on Tuesday.
Game one of the afternoon saw the Lady Pioneers tally 11 hits while committing four errors as they defeated Alderson Broaddus, 6-4. The Battlers finished the contest with seven hits and two errors.
The Battlers struck first in the second inning as Emily Rhodes hit an RBI sac fly to left field as Brianna Burg scored as they took a 1-0 lead. Glenville State then tied it up at 1-1 in the bottom of the second as
Karra Smith hit her second home run of the year to center field.
The Lady Pioneers took their first lead of the contest in the third as
Catherine Pelfrey hit an RBI double to left field scoring
Jeri Potter. Later in the game,
Landri Mays singled to third base scoring
Ashley Fridley as they went up 3-1.
Glenville State added three more runs in the fifth inning as they eventually went on to defeat Alderson Broaddus, 6-4.
Ashley Fridley went 2-for-2 while
Catherine Pelfrey finished the game 2-for-3 with an RBI.
Landri Mays and
Karra Smith each had an RBI while
Kelsey Naylor finished with two RBI's.
Ally Brown picked up the win on the mound as she pitched the entire game allowing four runs on seven hits while striking out five batters.
The Lady Pioneers would shutout the Battlers as they took game two of the afternoon, 4-0.
Glenville State racked up six hits while committing two errors. Alderson Broaddus tallied four hits while also having two errors.
The Lady Pioneers first run came in the third when
Kayla Letart scored on an error as they went up 1-0.
GSC added two more runs in the fourth inning.
Kelsey Naylor tripled to right field as she scored
Paranda Uber and
Mackenzie Martinelli as they led 3-0.
The final run of the game came for GSC in fifth when
Ashley Fridley stole home as the Lady Pioneers won 4-0.
Ashley Fridely went 1-for-2 while
Catherine Pelfrey recorded an RBI.
Kelsey Naylor went 2-for-3 with two RBI's.
Celina Maberto earned her second win of the season on the mound as she pitched the entire contest giving up four hits and striking out three batters.
Glenville State (3-1) will return to action on Friday, March 1
st when they host Salem University in a doubleheader at home starting at 2 p.m. Â Â
