Glenville, W.Va. – The GSC Lady Pioneer softball team split a home doubleheader with the Cardinals of Wheeling Jesuit University on Saturday.
Game one was all GSC as they tallied eight hits to the Cardinals one defeating WJU, 7-0.
The Lady Pioneers started the scoring in the first inning. Karra Smith doubled to left field scoring Paranda Uber. Later, Tori Ward doubled to left scoring Karra Smith and Ally Brown as GSC led, 3-0.
Glenville State tacked on another run in the third as Jerri Potter reached base on an error which in turn scored Ally Brown as the Lady Pioneers led 4-0.
The Lady Pioneers would add three more runs in the fourth inning on three hits as they took the first contest 7-0.
Ally Brown went 3-for-4 with an RBI while Kelsey Naylor and Tori Ward both recoded two RBI's each.
Ally Brown picked up her fifth win on the mound as she went all seven innings allowing just one hit while striking out six batters.
Game two would end up going to the Cardinals by a final of, 4-0.
Wheeling Jesuit recorded 10 hits while GSC finished with four.
WJU struck first in the second inning as they scored two runs on four hits as they led 2-0.
The Cardinals later added a run in both the fifth and a sixth as they defeated the Lady Pioneers, 4-0.
Landri Mays, Ally Brown, Karra Smith, and Jerri Potter all had a hit in the game.
Ally Brown pitched 2.0 innings allowing two runs on five hits.
Glenville State (11-27, 4-16) will return to the diamond this Monday, April 15th as they host West Liberty University at 1 p.m.
