Charleston, W.Va. – The GSC Lady Pioneer softball team went on the road Thursday and dropped a doubleheader to the University of Charleston Golden Eagles.
Game one, the Lady Pioneers tallied four hits while giving up nine hits to the Golden Eagles as GSC fell 6-2.
UC jumped out to a 2-0 lead after the first inning as they scored two runs off of three hits.
In the bottom of the third the Golden Eagles added three runs on three hits as they led 5-0.
The Golden Eagles later added one run in the bottom of the fourth as they held a 6-0 lead.
Glenville State got on the scoreboard in the sixth inning as
Kassidy Heavner singled to center as
Ally Brown and
Paranda Uber both scored. However the Lady Pioneers would end up falling by a final of 6-2.
Kassidy Heavner went 1-for-1 with two RBI's while
Ally Brown went 1-for-3.
Tori Ward pitched 3.1 innings allowing six runs on nine hits.
The Lady Pioneers and the Golden Eagles combined for 20 hits in the second matchup however GSC committed two errors as they fell in game two 9-6.
The Golden Eagles managed to score all nine runs in the bottom of the second inning off of seven hits as they led 9-0.
The Lady Pioneers first run came in the third as
Kelsey Naylor reached base on an error as
Paranda Uber crossed the plate making it, 9-1.
Glenville State then pulled within five runs in the fourth when
Paranda Uber doubled to right center scoring
Kierson Tavares. Then later in the inning
Paranda Uber scored on a single by
Kelsey Naylor and
Ally Brown scored as
Tori Ward singled making it 9-4.
The Lady Pioneers then added two more runs in the seventh when
Kelsey Naylor homered to center field and then
Kierson Tavares doubled which scored
Kassidy Heavner but GSC ended up falling 9-6.
Kelsey Naylor went 3-for-4 with two RBI's while
Tori Ward went 2-for-4 with an RBI.
Ally Brown pitched 1.2 innings allowing eight runs on six hits with two strike outs.
Glenville State (12-30, 5-19) will return to action on Monday, April 22
nd as they travel to West Virginia State University for a 4 p.m. doubleheader.
