Softball Falls on the Road at West Virginia State

Institute, W.Va. – The Glenville State Lady Pioneer softball team dropped a doubleheader on the road Monday evening to the Yellow Jackets of West Virginia State.

Glenville State tallied three runs in game one while West Virginia State finished with eight as the Yellow Jackets blanked the Lady Pioneers 8-0.

The Lady Pioneers only committed one error while the Yellow Jackets committed four.

West Virginia State jumped out to a 2-0 lead after one inning. WVSU then added a run in the second and two runs in the third as GSC trailed 5-0.

The Yellow Jackets went on and added two runs in the fourth and a run in the sixth as they defeated the Lady Pioneers 8-0.

Karra Smith, Kelsey Naylor, and Kierson Tavares each had a hit.

Ally Brown pitched 5.1 innings giving up eight runs on eight hits while striking out two batters.

Game two would again see the Lady Pioneers shutout as they fell to the Yellow Jackets 5-0.

GSC finished with two hits while WVSU recorded eight hits.

The Yellow Jackets took an early 3-0 lead in the second inning off of three hits.

WVSU added a run in the fourth and a run in the fifth as GSC fell 5-0.

Karra Smith and Ally Brown each had a hit in the game.

Celina Maberto pitched 4.1 innings allowing five runs on the eight hits with four strike outs.

Glenville State (12-32, 5-21) will return to action on Friday, April 26th as they host the Mountain Lions of Concord University at 3 p.m. in a doubleheader.
