Glenville, W.Va. – On a rainy Friday evening the GSC Lady Pioneer softball team split a doubleheader with the Cavaliers of UVa-Wise from the Sue Morris Sports Complex.
The Lady Pioneers struck first in the first as
Paranda Uber hit her sixth homer of the year as GSC led 1-0.
The Cavaliers of UVa-Wise would take their first lead of game in the fourth inning as Katie Russell hit a two run home run as they led 2-1.
Glenville State retook the lead in the bottom of the fourth as GSC scored three unearned runs as they led 4-2.
Kierson Tavares scored Jerri Potter as UVa-Wise made an error and then
Ally Brown hit a single to left field scoring
Paranda Uber and
Kierson Tavares.
Those two runs in the fourth proved to seal the deal for the Lady Pioneers as they took game one, 4-2.
Ally Brown pitched the entire game allowing just two runs on five hits with five strike outs.
The Lady Pioneers finished with six hits while the Cavaliers finished with five hits. Â
Ally Brown also went 2-for-2 at the plate with two RBI's while
Kierson Tavares and
Paranda Uber each had an RBI.
Game two saw UVa-Wise take a 3-0 lead as they scored one run in the first and two runs in the third.
The Cavaliers proved to be too much for the Lady Pioneers as they went on and scored 10 more runs as defeated GSC 13-0.
Glenville State finished with just two hits and committed an error while UVa-Wise recorded 12 hits and also committed an error.
Ally Brown went 1-for-3 while
Landri Mays also went 1-for-3.
Tori Ward pitched 3.0 innings allowing four runs on three hits while
Celina Maberto also pitched 3.0 innings giving up three runs on three hits with one strike out.
Glenville State (13-33, 6-22) will return to action tomorrow Saturday, April 27
th when they host the Mountain Lions of Concord University on Senior Day at 2 p.m.
