The Whitey Adolfson Memorial Golf Tournament Set for May 17th

Glenville, W.Va. - The Glenville State Football team and new Pioneer Head Coach Mike Kellar is pleased to announce the 2019 Whitey Adolfson Memorial Golf Tournament will be held on Friday, May 17th at the Gleenville Golf Club. 

Dave Walker, a 1988 Glenville State graduate, will be this years special guest. Dave was a standout player for the Pioneer football team for four years and served as team co-captain for two years. He earned WVIAC All-Conference Honors during his junior and senior years. He also received GSC's Montrose Award. 

He was inducted into the GSC Curtis Elam Hall of Fame in 2016. Now the Head Football Coach of the Martinsburg High School Bulldogs, Walker made history on December 2nd 2018 when he won his seventh State AAA Football Championship. In 2016 he was named the National Football Coach of the Year by the National Federation of High Schools. He is the first coach from West Virginia to win the honor and also the first to win seven AAA West Virginia State Championships in only nine years.

A native of Pineville, WV, his Championship years at Martinsburg are: 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2016, 2017, and 2018. 

Dave is the winningest active head coach in West Virginia. He is married to the former Belinda Nichols, a 1987 GSC graduate. They have two sons, Derek and Troy. 

The Golf Tournament will be a shotgun start at 8 a.m. with the second flight teeing off at 1 p.m. The cost is $75 per golfer or $300 per team. 

Cost includes tournament fees, continental breakfast, lunch, and attendance at a social reception. The social reception will begin at 7 p.m., the location of which will be announced. For anyone wanting to attend just the social reception, the cost is $25. 

Hole sponsorships are available for $100 and corporate sponsorships are available for $500.
