Glenville, W.Va. –The GSC Lady Pioneer softball team dropped a doubleheader on Senior Day to the Mountain Lions of Concord University.
Game one belonged to the Mountain Lions as they held the Lady Pioneers scoreless defeating GSC in six innings, 8-0.
Glenville State finished with just two hits while Concord tallied eight hits.
Both teams went scoreless until the third inning as they scored two runs on two hits as they led 2-0.
The Mountain Lions then went on and scored four runs off of four hits in the fourth and then added two runs later in the sixth as they claimed the 8-0 victory.
Karra Smith and
Jeri Potter each recorded a hit.
Ally Brown pitched 3.1 innings giving up six runs on five hits with two strike outs.
Game two would also belong to the Mountain Lions as they defeated the Lady Pioneers 12-2 in five innings.
Concord finished with 13 hits while Glenville State tallied five hits and committed one error.
Concord struck first in the first as they led 2-0. They then jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the second as they scored five runs in the second.
Concord added three runs in the third as they held a 10-0 lead.
Glenville State got on the board in the fourth when
Karra Smith hit her 12
th homer of the season and then later
Cassidy Taylor grounded out however
Kelsey Naylor crossed the plate as the Lady Pioneers trailed 10-2.
Concord then added two runs in the fifth as they took game two 12-2.
Kelsey Naylor went 2-for-2 while
Cassidy Taylor and
Karra Smith both recorded an RBI.
Celina Maberto gave up five runs on five hits while
Ally Brown pitched 3.0 innings giving up two runs on two hits with two strike outs.
Glenville State (13-35, 6-24) will host Notre Dame College in their final game of the 2019 season tomorrow, Sunday, April 28
th at 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. Â
