Glenville, W.Va. – The GSC Lady Pioneer softball team dropped a doubleheader to the University of Charleston on Sunday from the Sue Morris Sports Complex.
Game one saw the UC Golden Eagles score six runs in the second inning as they held on to defeat the Lady Pioneers 7-4.
Glenville State finished with eight hits while Charleston recorded nine hits.
UC took a 1-0 lead after the first inning. The Golden Eagles then made separation in the second inning as they scored six runs on six hits to take a 7-0 lead.

Tori Ward put the Lady Pioneers on the board in the bottom of the second as she singled to center field scoring

The Lady Pioneers then added two more runs in the third as
Paranda Uber hit a two run home run to left field scoring
Kierson Tavares as they pulled within four runs. GSC added another run in the fifth however UC held on and claimed the win, 7-4.
Paranda Uber went 1-for-4 with a two run homer her third of the season.
Kierson Tavares went 2-for-2.
Tori Ward pitched just 1.1 innings allowing six runs on five hits while
Celina Maberto pitched 5.2 innings allowing just one run on four hits and struck out two batters.
Game two saw the Lady Pioneers jump out to an early 4-1 lead but GSC could not hold on as UC scored nine runs in the fourth, fifth, and sixth inning as they came from behind to win, 10-5.
UC struck first in the first as they led 1-0. GSC would respond in the bottom of the first as
Paranda Uber hit a solo home run and then
Landri Mays hit a three run homer to left field as the Lady Pioneers went up 4-1.
The Golden Eagles then tied it up at 4-4 in the fourth as they scored three runs on four hits. UC then broke the game wide open in the fifth as they scored four runs on three hits to take an 8-4 lead.
UC added two more runs in the sixth inning. GSC added a run in the seventh as
Celina Maberto singled up the middle of the field scoring
Kierson Tavares as the Lady Pioneers fell, 10-5.
Glenville State racked up 10 hits while giving up 11 hits to the Golden Eagles.
Paranda Uber, who has been on a tear, finished the game going 3-for-4 as she hit her fourth home run of the year.
Celina Maberto went 1-for-1 with an RBI.
Ally Brown pitched 5.0 innings allowing 10 runs on 10 hits with three strike outs.
Glenville State (9-25, 2-14) will return to action this Wednesday, April 10
th as they host West Virginia Wesleyan College at 5 p.m. from the Sue Morris Sports Complex.
