Glenville, W.Va – The Glenville State College women's soccer team dropped their 2019 home opener match to Lake Erie College 3-0.
The Lady Pioneers entered the match in hopes to earn the first win in program history and score the first goal on home soil. However, Glenville State (0-2) fell short as Lake Erie (2-0), struck early to take the match 3-0.
Lake Erie shot timely to take the lead while scoring in the first minute of play. The Lady Pioneers would look to make a comeback in the second half, but fell short to Lake Erie to push the lead 3-0.
The Lady Pioneers were outshot by Lake Erie eight shots to six but
Morgan Smailes had seven saves on the day.
Julia Lesko and
Leighana Weaver notched three shots each. The Lady Pioneers recorded only four shots on frame in the contest.
GSC hits the road for a non-conference match on Saturday, September 14 against Washington Adventist (MD) at 8:00pm
