Glenville, W.Va – The Glenville State Lady Pioneer soccer team fell short in their 2019 season opener to the IUP Crimson Hawks, 5-0.
Glenville State (0-1) was out shot by IUP (1-0), 17-3. Senior Leighana Weaver posted two shots while Miki Abe had one shot on goal.
Morgan Smailes recorded 11 saves while giving up 2 goals.
IUP struck first at the 13:57 minute mark, then would add to the score at the 15:35 minute in the first period. The Lady Pioneers would try to battle back in the second half but came up short.
Glenville has a quick turnaround as the Lady Pioneers will host Lake Erie College in a non-conference contest on Tuesday, September 10th. First touch is at 6pm.
