Elkins, W.Va. – GSC falls 79-73 late to D&E. The Senators Donte Doleman's three pointer with a minute left would put D&E up for good as they hit their free throws down the stretch defeating the Pioneers. GSC falls to 8-7, 5-4 MEC where D&E improves to 5-10, 3-6 MEC.
How It Happened
First Half:
D&E jumped out to an early 4-0 lead before
Noah Frampton would connect with
Tyvon Taylor from deep.
Ty Robinson would add to the score with a layup to gain the first Pioneer lead 5-4.
Najee Scott then found Robinson on the court for a massive dunk in with 15 minutes remaining in the first.
The lead would trade hands several times before Scott would go 4-for-4 at the stripe. Phil Bledoe then connected with
Steven Verplancken for a layup to put the Pioneers ahead 21-15.
The Pioneers would push their lead to 10 but D&E would respond on a 10-2 run, the Senators would extend their run to tie the contest at 27 all.
Phil Bledsoe and Verplancken hit back to back triple to push their advantage back to ten at 37-27 with under two minutes remaining.
Noah Frampton would then connect with
Hegel Augustin for a three at the buzzer to send the Senators to the locker room trailing 43-36.
GSC shot 47% from the floor with just 4-for-17 from deep while also regaining 19 rebounds in the half.
D&E shot 16-for-32 from the floor while shooting just 1-for-7 from behind the arc.
Second Half:
Both teams came out of the half traded baskets back and forth,
Noah Frampton would add to the Pioneers score connecting with
Seth Fallon from deep.
Bledsoe would go on a 5-0 run with a pair of freebies from the stripe and a triple to put the Pioneers ahead 53-46 with under 15 minutes remaining.
Augustin would add to the Blue and White score from deep, however D&E would respond by adding a free pair.
D&E would not go away as a 15-9 closed the gap to four, 65-61 with 7:13 to play. Augustin recorded a three for the Pioneers with a pair from the stripe by Bledsoe to push the gap back to eight points.
D&E would take the lead again by hitting a three with one-minute remaining. Out of the timeout, the Senators recorded a five from the charity stripe to take the contest 79-73.

GSC shot 37% from the floor and just 28% from deep while netting 25 bench points and 16 points off turnovers.
Phil Bledsoe lead the Pioneers with 21 points and
Hegel Augustin following behind with 19 points.
