Pioneers Continues Five Game Hot Streak

Glenville, W.Va. – Glenville State extends to a five game win streak becoming victorious over Notre Dame College 83-75. GSC's (13-7, 10-4 MEC) Phil Bledsoe grabbed his 11th double-double of the year with 22 points and 12 rebounds.
 
Steven Verplancken knocked a game high 23 points shooting 9-for-13 from the floor and 66% from behind the arc.
 
How It Happened
 
First Half:
 
The Pioneers opened the first half on a quick 10-0 lead with triples from Noah Frampton and Phile Bledsoe. Tyvon Taylor would continue to add to the Blue and White score with another shot from deep leading 15-4.
 
The Pioneers continued their momentum by entering an 11-4 run with buckets by Hegel Augustin, Jaeger Martino, Bledsoe and Taylor to push their lead 26-8.
 
Down the stretch, the Fighting Falcons would look to cut their deficit with a 9-0 run to bring them back down to single-digits at 31-20.
 
Bledsoe would slow their momentum by hitting a jumper but answered back with a dunk from NDC.
 
Tyvon Taylor would then hit a shot from downtown with Bledsoe for a layup and two freebies from Noah Frampton to send the Fighting Falcons in the locker room trailing 42-28.
 
The Pioneers shot 15-for-31 from the floor with seven buckets from behind the arc outrebounding NDC 24-8 at the half.
 
The Fighting Falcons shot 42% from the floor and just 2-for-11 from deep.
 
Second Half:
 
Phil Bledsoe and Steven Verplancken kept the Pioneers in front coming out of the half as both teams would score seven a piece before NDC would pull within nine of the Pioneers.
 
Bledsoe would hit a shot from deep as Noah Frampton would force an NDC turnover to connect with Augustin down the court for a layup to extend their lead back to double-digits.
 
The Fighting Falcon would not stop as they entered an 18-11 run to pull back within seven. Bledsoe would convert a pair of freebies but responded back with a three from NCD.
 
The Pioneers responded by forcing two turnovers within 10 seconds to score a quick four points to push GSC's advantage back ten.
 
Verplancken after the timeout would hit a shot from deep and sink a layup to put the Blue and White up 71-59.
 
At the three-minute mark, the Falcons would pull within four before Tyvon Taylor added a layup to the Pioneer score but the Falcons would not give up there. Notre Dame sunk a three ball but Noah Frampton responded with a triple to push the lead back 78-72 with two minutes remaining.
 
Augustin hit a layup to keep the Pioneer lead as Verplancken would push their advantage at 83-75 with a three ball, 16 seconds remaining.
 
Inside The Box Score
 
Glenville State ended the contest shooting 50% from the field and 12-for-34 from behind the arc. The Pioneers tallied 40 points in the paint and outrebounding NDC 34-22 while also scoring 15 second chance points.
 
Hegel Augustin totaled 14 points on the night with six rebounds and three assists shooting 3-for-5 from deep.
 
Noah Frampton collected four assists while sinking ten total points.
 
NDC shot 55% from the floor with just 8-for-18 from deep while tallying 36 points in the paint.
 
The Fighting Falcons was lead by De'Anthony Owens knocking 25 points.
