Lady Pioneers Cruise Past the Hilltoppers

Glenville, W.Va. – The Lady Pioneers rambled past the West Liberty Hilltoppers (9-14, 5-12 MEC) in a game of threes to win 119-82 over. GSC improves to 19-4, 15-2 MEC.
 
Emily Stoller knotted her career double-double with 26 points on the night and ten rebounds shooting 4-for-8 from behind the arc.
 
How It Happened
 
First Quarter:
 
West Liberty opened the first four points over the Lady Pioneers holding a slight 4-2 advantage.
 
Taychaun Hubbard knotted the contest at four all to rally an 8-2 run with buckets by Abby Stoller, Blaize Burgess and Victoria Brown.
 
Emily Stoller and Ty Armstrong would hit back to back triples to extend their lead up to double-digits leading 25-11.
 
Lucille Westfall would add a layup followed by a jumper from Armstrong as WLU answered back with a bucket from deep.
 
Re'Shawna Stone added a pair from the stripe to end the first leading 35-17.
 
Second Quarter:
 
The Lady Pioneers made separation starting the quarter on a 18-6 run to lead over the Hilltoppers 53-23. During the run, Armstrong, Burgess and Stone all topped down a triple
 
Glenville continued to pace away from the Hilltoppers with buckets by Armstrong and Hubbard to extend their advantage to 34 points.
 
Zakiyah Winfield added a layup with a pair of freebies from Abby Stoller to send the Hilltoppers trailing 65-30.
 
GSC shot 61% from the floor and 6-for-11 from behind the arc totaling 25 rebounds. WLU shot just 10-for-32 from the floor and 25% from deep.
 
Third Quarter:
 
Looking to cut their deficit, West Liberty began the second half on a 11-6 run over the Pioneers. However, Emily Stoller would connect with Blaize Burgess with a three ball to slow their run.
 
Emily Stoller then found sister Abby Stoller for a shot from deep to extend their lead back to 77-45.
 
The Hilltoppers held a strong third quarter ending with a run of 14-6 but still trailing 85-59.
 
Fourth Quarter:
Emily Stoller and Zakiyah Winfield opened the fourth with two layups ups along with a pair of freebies to lead 91-62.
 
Ty Armstrong would hit the century mark by sinking a ball from deep to lead 102-66.
 
Taychaun Hubbard and Abby Stoller continued to add to the score with two, three balls with three minutes remaining leading 108-70.
 
 Winfield added to the three ball game with a jumper from Stoller to take the game 119-82.
 
Inside the Box Score
 
Glenville State shot 52% from the floor and 13-for-30 from behind the arc shooting 25 points off turnovers, 20 fastbreak points and 56 points in the paint.
 
Ty Armstrong lead the Lady Pioneers with 27 points shooting 10-for-18 from the floor and 3-for-6 from deep.
 
Zakiyah Winfield chipped in with 20 points and three steals.
 
The Stoller sisters and Re'Shawna Stone all knotted tallied four assists where Taychaun Hubbard knotted four steals on the night.
 
Coming Up
 
The Blue and White will return to action February 15th as they travel to Wheeling University, tip off is slated for 2pm.
