Glenville, W.Va. – The GSC Lady Pioneers softball team went 1-1 this afternoon at the Sue Morris Sports Complex against Shepherd University and Mercyhurst University.

Paranda Uber went 2-for-5 with three RBI's while
Catherine Pelfrey went 3-for-5.
Karra Smith finished with an RBI and
Ashley Fridley went 1-for-1.
Tori Ward pitched 4.0 innings, five hits, allowing one run earning a save.
Ashley Fridley in all pitched 7.0 innings allowing four hits to go with four strike outs while also earning a win on the mound.
How It Happened
Game One
GSC struck first in the first inning as
Karra Smith hit a sacrifice RBI to left field scoring
Mackenzie Martinelli and then
Jeri Potter scored on an error as they led 2-0.
Shepherd came back in the second inning and tied it up at 2-2 off of three hits.
The Rams then took their first lead of the game in the third off of two hits as they led GSC 4-2.
The Lady Pioneers then pulled within one in the bottom of the third when Haley Stevens scored off of a single to center by
Makayla McGuire making it 4-3.
The Rams then added another run in the fourth as they now led 5-3.
GSC would not go away as
Paranda Uber smacked a home run making it 5-4 but that's as close as the Lady Pioneers would get.
Game Two
Glenville State jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the third inning when
Paranda Uber double to left scoring
Catherine Pelfrey and
Ashley Fridley.
Mercyhurst added one run in the fourth off of two hits making it 2-1.
The Lady Pioneers broke it wide open in the bottom of the fourth as they jumped out to a 5-1 lead. The scoring started when
Haley Smith scored an unearned run and then
Jeri Potter doubled to right scoring
Catherine Pelfrey and
Tori Ward.
Glenville State would go on and pick up the 5-1 win.

Glenville State returns to the diamond tomorrow Sunday, February 23
rd at 1 p.m. when they take on Mansfield and then at 3 p.m. they will take on Mercyhurst.
