GSC Hoops Rolls to 12th Straight Victory on the Road Against Bobcats

Frostburg, Md. – Glenville State extend season win streak to 12 games with victory over Frostburg State University, 93-69. Improving to 18-4 overall and 14-2 in conference action, the Lady Pioneers maintain the top seed within the MEC.
 
Ty Armstrong lead the Blue and White converting 25 total points sinking 5-for-9 from behind the arc.
 
How It Happened
 
First Quarter:
 
The Bobcats gained an early 4-0 lead over the Lady Pioneers as the Blue and White would remain scoreless for the first three minutes of play.
 
Lucille Westfall scored a layup to put GSC on the bored, from there the Lady Pioneers entered a short 6-2 run to gain their first lead 8-6.
 
Ty Armstrong would sink a three ball to end the first leading 19-13.  
 
Second Quarter:
 
The Lady Pioneers started the second quarter on a 5-0 run with a three ball by Kaylee Pierce from Re'Shawna Stone to gain a ten-point advantage.
 
FSU would add a layup and a pair of freebies form the stripe but Mashayla Cecil then found Hubbard on the court to sink a bucket from deep pushing the Blue and White to 31-17.
 
GSC would then make separations as they go on a 11-2 run with three balls from Blaize Burgess and Emily Stoller
 
The Lady Pioneers would continue with another 14-1 run to lead 53-20 at the half.
 
Glenville State shot just 42% from the floor and 8-for-21 from behind the arc as Frostburg shot 17% from the field and 0-for-7 from deep.
 
Third Quarter:
 
The Bobcats opened the second half on a 9-2 run to close their deficit to 55-29, but their momentum was put to a halt when Armstrong found Stoller on the court for a triple. Stone continued to separate form the Bobcats with a layup pushing their lead to 63-37.
 
Glenville State rallied another 14-4 run with a bucket from deep by Armstrong and buckets from Zakiyah Winfield, Stone, Stoller and Westfall.
 
Pierce would hit a three ball to end the third leading 78-40.
 
Fourth Quarter:
 
Frostburg continued to mimic the previous quarter as they scored first starting with a double-bonus to further go on a 15-0 run.
 
Armstrong would hit her fourth triple of the contest but responded by forcing a GSC turnover scoring a layup cutting their deficit 81-57.
 
Out of the timeout, Frostburg continued to itch closer to the Lady Pioneers entering a short 7-1 run to pull within 18.
 
Armstrong would transform a five-point conversion to trade baskets at five a piece to end the contest at 93-69.
 
Inside The Box Score  
 
Glneville State shot under 40% from the floor and 13-for-37 from deep gaining 50 rebounds and 39 points off turnovers.
 
Re'Shawna Stone tallied 18 points on the night gaining six rebounds and five assists. Following Stone was Emily Stoller with 14 points shooting 5-for-5 at the stripe.
 
Lucille Westfall knotted GSC high eight rebounds and a steal.
 
FSU shot 37% from the floor and 31% from behind the arc with five blocks while tying the Lady Pioneers with 34 points in the paint.
 
The Bobcats were lead by Victoria Diggs who totaled 22 points and three rebounds.

The Lady Pioneers will return to action at home facing off against West Liberty University February 12th at 5:30pm.
