GLENVILLE – For the second time in a 10-day span, the Glenville State Women's Soccer team battled the strong University of Charleston squad hard, only to lose 1-0. This match was a Sunday afternoon tilt at GSC's Morris Stadium.
Glenville battled them throughout the first half, and the team went to intermission tied at 0-0. The Pioneers did produce one strong scoring chance in the first half on a

Miki Abe in the box, but the smooth play shot wide of the goal.
Charleston grabbed the lead early in the second half, as Laura Vierhout was credited with the goal on a crossing pass from Kassandra Demps. The match's only score came at the 48:28 mark. Neither team could find the back of the net afterward, and the Golden Eagles held on for the one-goal victory.
Charleston led in shots 20-3, and in shots on goal 9-1. They also attempted the match's only six corner kicks. It was a physical game with 23 total fouls committed, 14 of which by the Pioneers.
Charleston improves to 5-3 with the victory, and 4-2 in the Mountain East Conference. Glenville falls to 1-7 overall, and 0-6 in the league.
Glenville returns to action on Wednesday night, traveling to West Virginia State. Kickoff is set for 6:00 PM.
