Box Score CHARLESTON – Glenville's Volleyball team traveled to Charleston on Friday night, and fell to the Golden Eagles in straight sets; 25-16, 25-19, 25-13.
Coach
Keven John's GSC squad battled Charleston close throughout the second set, but could not close the issue as UC closed with a strong run to establish a two-set advantage. Charleston carried that momentum into the third frame and closed the match in three sets.
Karlei Shaver led GSC with 10 kills, followed by
Taylin Johnson with four, and
Skylar Mace and
Sydney Goodrich three each.
Hannah McKown recorded 10 digs and Shaver eight. Mace also led the way in service aces with four, with Goodrich registering two. Setter
Julia King closed the night with 17 assists.
Charleston improves to 11-5 overall, and 3-1 in the Mountain East Conference. Glenville falls to 2-8 overall, and 0-4 in the MEC.
Glenville returns to action next Tuesday night, hosting Southern Division rival Concord. First serve will be at 7:00 in the Waco Center.
