Coach
Justin Caldwell's Glenville Men's Basketball team swings back into action this weekend, opening their 2022 season at the University of Charleston season opening tournament. It will be a "crossover" event, as both Glenville and the host UC squad will play a pair of regional teams over the two days.
Glenville is coming off a 9-4 campaign, in which they made it to the semifinals of the Mountain East Tournament, losing on a last-second shot to West Liberty. They ended the season second in league's Southern Division.
Eight of the nine players from Caldwell's regular rotation last year return, led by All-American John Williams who averaged 27.8 points per game. Point guard
Nick Edwards averaged 17.9 points per game, and 6.7 assists. The other key returnees include
Adrian Scarborough (7.5 ppg),
Tommy Williams (7.2), Zane DeSouza (7.0),
Seth Fallon (3.0),
Luke LeRose (3.0), and
Gus Eddy (2.4).
Glenville opens play in the tournament on Friday night, playing St. Augustine's at 7:30. They close play in Charleston on Saturday, playing California University of Pennsylvania.
