Glenville Drops Match at WV State

INSTITUTE – Glenville battled the strong West Virginia State squad strong on Tuesday night, but could not overcome the regional powerhouse Yellow Jackets, falling in straight sets; 25-14, 25-14, 25-11. Glenville's strongest push came in the second set, where they had the deficit at 15-10 well into the frame.
 
Coach Keven John's Lady Pioneers was led in kills by Skylar Mace with nine, Sydney Goodrich seven, and Lily Emerson four. Goodrich and Karlei Shaver each recorded a pair of service aces, while Mace and Julia King each posted a pair of blocks. Setters Julia King and Jenna Cogar registered 12 and nine assists respectively. Goodrich tallied a team-high 14 digs, followed by Lindsay Winkler with nine and Hannah McKown seven.
 
State added to their division lead, improving to 24-3 overall, and 12-1 in the Mountain East Conference. Glenville falls to 2-17 overall, and 0-13 in the MEC.
 
GSC returns to action Friday night, hosting the University of Charleston. First serve is set for 7:00 in the Waco Center.
