Glenville, W.Va. - Glenville Women's Soccer hosted Alderson Broaddus on Wednesday evening for their last home contest of the season. It was also senior night for the Pioneers.

Chilly night in Glenville, and the game was back and forth with no team holding possession. Glenville would start to generate some momentum around ten minutes into the match.

Glenville would get on the board first in the 13th minute off a corner kick from
Miki Abe, and on the receiving end was
Victoria Porterfield. This was Porterfield's second goal of the season.

In the first twenty five minutes of play, Glenville would force five corner kicks. Only three shots came off of the offensive possession, but the defense never allowed any real chances for the Battlers.

Just under four minutes remaining in the first half,
Merel Smets carried the ball thirty yards, and fired a shot far right that went just wide. Glenville would go into the half leading 1-0, while having a 6-1 advantage in shots.

In the 48th minute,
Merel Smets received a pass from
Hanna Kleve and Smets did the rest juking a Battler defender and putting the Pioneers up 2-0. With the goal, Smets moved into second all-time in season and career goals with 4.

In the 69th minute, the Pioneers almost found the back of the net again, when Smets placed a corner beautifully to the back post and was almost converted by the Pioneers. Again in the 77th minute,
Mackenzie Hendricks crossed a ball in to
Victoria Porterfield and the bang bang play went just high.

In the 83rd minute,
Mackenzie Hendricks placed a ball to the middle after pacing down the sideline, the pass was received by
Tori Cutright and fired top right shelf to put the Pioneers up 3-0.

The Pioneers would go onto win 3-0. Glenville would have a 13-5 advantage in shots, and 12-1 advantage in corner kicks. Pioneer Women's Soccer will finish the season on Sunday when they travel to Beckley, W.Va to take on Concord University.
