GLENVILLE – Glenville State's Men produced their second straight quality win at home on Monday afternoon, defeating nationally ranked Fairmont on the Waco Center floor, 99-96 in overtime!
It would be the program's first win over a ranked in several years, and came on the heels of their win over a loaded Notre Dame squad just two weeks ago.
Glenville opened strong, and built their lead to as high as 16 points in an impressive first half. At the halftime break, the Pioneers carried a 49-32 lead into the dressing room. But the Falcons responded, and before the second media timeout of the second half, the score was tied at 59-59. The two teams battled back and forth, eventually needing extra-time as regulation ended 87-87.
In the extra frame, the Pioneers connected on several key shots, closing the game with some key defensive stops down the stretch. In what was a much-needed win for GSC, they were able to celebrate the victory over a key rival.
Nick Edwards led the Pioneer effort, producing a double-double with 23 points and 10 assists. He also recorded a team-high four steals. Glenville's balanced attack included several other players in double-figures;

Adrian Scarborough 17,
Tommy Williams 15, and Zane DeSouza 12. Scarborough and John Williams also registered double-doubles; as Scarborough pulled down 11 rebounds and Williams 10.
GSC shot a sterling 51.9% from the field (40-of-77). They also won the team rebounding battle 42-39.
Fairmont's scoring duo of Zyan Dobbs and Isaiah Sanders tallied 26 and 24 points respectively.
Glenville improves to 4-4 overall, and 2-3 in the Mountain East Conference. Fairmont falls to 7-2 overall, and 4-2 in the MEC.
