Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Pioneers Drop Heartbreaker at AB

PHILIPPI --- Glenville State's Men's Basketball team suffered a heartbreaking two-overtime loss on Saturday afternoon, falling to Alderson-Broaddus on the road, 113-108 in double overtime. GSC battled through the two overtimes, despite not having star John Williams or shooter Zane Desouza, who had both been lost due to fouling out.

Each team materialized comebacks, and also hit big shots to extend the game. Glenville's Nick Edwards drained a runner down the lane with two seconds left to send the game to overtime, and AB's K.J. Walker hit a long straightaway three to send the game to a second overtime. But in the end, the Pioneers came up just short in the marathon contest. The teams combined to take 165 shots from the field.

Glenville led 46-41 at the half, and held that lead until AB grabbed a 59-58 lead at the twelve minute mark. GSC responded by scoring the next six points. They would lead until the final minute, when AB would take advantage of the Williams foul trouble. At this point, the team's exchanged late-game heroics until the Battlers prevailed after two extra frames.

Edwards would lead the GSC effort, scoring 32 points, and logging almost 45 minutes of playing time in the contest. He was complemented by Adrian Scarborough with 20 points, Williams 19, and Matthew Allman 10. Allman was also hampered by foul trouble, and sat most of the second half. Williams executed a double-double, leading the Pioneers with 13 rebounds.

Walker led A-B with 38 points, followed John Grayson with 19, and Jalen Collins 18. GSC led in team rebounding 52-34.

Glenville falls to 3-3 with the loss, 1-2 in the Mountain East Conference. AB improves to 4-3 overall, and 2-2 in the league.

Coach Justin Caldwell's Pioneers return to action on Wednesday, traveling to Frostburg. Tip-off is set for 7:30.
