FROSTBURG, Md. – Glenville State's Men battled back from an early 16-point deficit Wednesday night, but their comeback came up short as the Pioneers fell on the road to Frostburg, 99-93.
Agyei Edwards led the Bobcats, scoring 40 points. Torrin Stephens added 19.
Frostburg came out of the gates fast, taking early leads of 7-2 and 13-5. Fifteen minutes in, the lead had grown to 16 at 34-18. Glenville rebounded strong, cutting the FSU lead to 47-45 at the break. The deficit was cut to one at 48-47 in the first minute of the second half, but Frostburg came back with a 10-4 run, pushing the lead back to seven at 58-51. Throughout the second half, GSC fought to get close enough to gain the lead, cutting it back to one possession on three different occasions. They simply ran out of time at the end.
Glenville was led by John Williams JR. with 29 points. He was followed by Nick Edwards with 22, Adrian Scarborough 18, and Luke LeRose 12. Edwards posted team highs with eight rebounds and six assists, with Scarborough matching his eight rebounds.
GSC shot 33-of-74 form the field (44.1%), and 8-of-27 from three (29.6%). Frostburg was 36-of-62 (58.1%), and 13-of-27 from three (48.1%). GSC led in team rebounding 35-31.
Glenville falls to 3-4 overall, and 1-3 in the Mountain East Conference. Frostburg improves to 3-7 overall, and 2-3 in the MEC.
