Glenville State's Lady Pioneers continued their torrid early season surge on Saturday, rolling to a 133-65 road victory at Alderson Broaddus.
Seventeen different players found the scoring column, with six different players in double figures. They were led by
Dazha Congleton with 25,
Zakiyah Winfield 16,
Abby Stoller 15, Vendela Daniellsson 12,
Taychaun Hubbard 11, and
Re'Shawna Stone 10.
Stone and
Skylar Davidson led in assists with five and four respectively, with Davidson recording a team-high four steals. Congleton led the team with seven rebounds.
A-B played it close in the game's first five minutes, and led 8-7. But the Lady Pioneers finished the quarter strong and gained a 31-17 lead at the break. They exploded for 44 points in the second quarter and settled the issue early, taking a 75-38 lead into the half.
Glenville shot 56.7% from the field (51-of-90). They led in team rebounding 41-35. GSC's ball-hawking defense forced 45 Battler turnovers.
Glenville is now 7-0 overall, and 3-0 in the MEC. Alderson Broaddus falls to 3-4 overall, 1-3 overall n the league.
Glenville returns to action next Wednesday night traveling to Frostburg. Tip-off is set for 5:30.
