West Liberty, W.Va. – GSC Hoops hot streak ended against No. 9 West Liberty University (4-3) in a not so hot 117-85 loss, falling to 5-1 on the season.
John Williams scored a team high 21 points shooting 7-for-16 from the field and 7-for-8 form the stripe.
How It Happened
First Half:
Seth Fallon,
John Williams and
Adrian Scarborough gained the first baskets for the Pioneers trailing 7-6.
Fallon then connected with J. Williams for a three ball gaining the Blue and White their first lead of the contest.
The Hilltoppers would then stray away from the Pioneers going on a 20-9 run to push their advantage to double digits.
Nick Edwards then slowed down West Liberty's momentum with a short floater that pulled the Pioneers to singles trailing just 29-21 with eight minutes remaining in the half.
The Hilltoppers then made separation by going on a 14-4 run to lead 43-24.
John Williams then added a pair from the stripe with Augustin sinking a floater with
Gus Eddy following with a jumper to cut their deficit 30-48.
West Liberty then sent Glenville State to the locker room trailing 53-35 at the half. The Pioneers shot just 36% from the field with just 2-for-8 behind the arc but enabling to outrebound the Hilltoppers at the half. WLU shot 50% from the floor and 6-for-19 from behind the arc.
Second Half:
Out of the break, both teams scored bucket for bucket as the Hilltoppers held their large lead over the Pioneers.
Augustin and Edwards both sunk two jumpers before WLU entered another 12-4 run pushing their advantage 48-80. The Pioneers then held a short response starting a with an 8-2 run to pull back 57-82 with ten minutes remaining.
Both teams then continued to trade baskets equally until the Hilltoppers entered an offensive stall.
Tommy Williams then responded by connecting with
John Williams for a three ball trailing 96-69.
T. Williams then added a shot from the stripe as Eddy found Nicolas Dierynck to sink a three ball.
Seth Fallon took the final shots for the Pioneers as GSC fell 117-85.

GSC held their 27% efficiently shooting just 29-for-78 from the floor and 5-for-22 from behind the arc. The Pioneers forced 18 Hilltopper turnovers and converted 17 them into points.
Nick Edwards and
Adrian Scarborough both tallied 16 and 14 points as each tallied four rebounds. Edwards continued to connect with players down the court as he also tallied five assists.
Hegel Augustin and
John Williams tallied eight and nine rebounds each as

West Liberty University shot 53% from the floor and 12-for-31 from behind the arc while tallying 48 total rebounds. The Hilltoppers were lead by Dalton Bolon and Pat Robinson with 26 and 20 points, respectively.
