Demanding Week Ahead for GSC Volleyball

Glenville, W.Va. – The GSC Volleyball team will have a busy week ahead as they are set to play five total games against three different teams.

The Blue & White will travel to West Virginia Wesleyan this Tuesday (Feb. 23) which will be a doubleheader with the Bobcats at 5pm and 7pm.

Following that contest GSC will then host West Virginia State on Wednesday (Feb. 24) in a single game at 7pm. This will be the lone home game for GSC this season.

And then they will end the week on Saturday (Feb. 27) on the road at Davis & Elkins for another doubleheader at 1pm and 3pm.

Pioneers, Bobcats, Yellow Jackets, & Senators Files

GSC (0-1, 0-1), which has only played one game due to COVID-19, is led in kills by junior Skylar Mace with nine kills followed by sophomore Karlei Shaver with five.

However, Shaver leads the team in digs with eight followed by Mace with six.

Jenna Cogar is the team leader in assists with eight while freshman Sarah Grainger leads the team in blocks with 3.0.

West Virginia Wesleyan comes into the contest at 3-2 (3-2). They are led by Lexis Tatum in kills with 67 while Emily Doyle is second with 56.

Autumn Molenhouse leads the team in digs with 74 while Payton Hefner is the leader in assists with 172.

West Virginia State is currently 4-1 overall (4-1) and the Yellow Jackets are led in kills by Jenna Dufresne with 86.

Jordan West is the team's leader in digs with 72 and Peri Martin has tallied 109 assists. Grace Martin has 15.0 blocks on the season.

Davis & Elkins is currently 3-1 overall (3-1) and the Senators are led by Macie Magallon in kills with 61.

Brilane Manchego leads the team in digs with 40 while she also is the leader in assists with 122.

Pioneer Highlights

Again this is just the second game of the season for the Pioneers. In the first contest of the season GSC had 14 players see action.

Two players to watch for this week will be Skylar Mace and Karlei Shaver along with Taylor Goett.
