Glenville, W.Va. – Glenville State Pioneers drop pair at home against University of Findlay and Tiffin University though picking up 22 hits with seven doubles on the day.
Catherine Pelfrey and
Mackenzie Martinelli led the Lady Pioneers in their offensive attack. Pelfrey tallied four hits including two doubles an RBI, picked up two walks and scored four runs. Martinelli also picked up four hits with a double and homerun while tallying two RBIs and scoring three runs.
How It Happened
Game One:
Catherine Pelfrey opened up the contest drawing an early walk as
Ashley Fridley then moved Pelfrey into scoring position with a short base hit to first.
Karra Smith then doubled down the left field line scoring both runners holding a 2-0 lead after one complete.
Oilers answered back with two to tie the contest at two all.
Adding more runs to the board,
Kaelyn Stenger earned a spot on base after being hit by a pitch as
Jessica Williams reached by a Findlay error. Pelfrey then doubled to right scoring Stenger as Smith then doubled to center scoring Williams.
Then in the third,
Ashton Palmer hit a big triple as Drake reached first on another Oiler error. Stenger then hit a two run bombshell scoring Drake and Palmer as GSC led 8-2.
Then opening the bottom half of the fourth was Martinelli with a deep shot over the left center wall though holding a 9-5 lead.
In the sixth, Martinelli singled to center and advanced to second from Palmers sacrifice bunt as Drake then scored Martinelli from second on a double to left field.
Then going into extras tied at 10 a piece, the Oilers would home run dead center then ending the top half 14-0.
Smith then scored off Martinelli's double from right center and moved to third off grounder as she scored off a wild pitch. However, the Blue and White would fall 14-12.
Game Two:
The Pioneers would put a run on the board in the third as
Catherine Pelfrey singled to center while advancing to third on a single to short from
Ashley Fridley. Pelfrey would then come around to score on a wild pitch.
In the fourth, Stenger doubled to center but was left stranded ending the top half. Though in the fifth, Pelfrey and Fridley both singled to right and left field respectively as Smith singled to center scoring Pelfrey. GSC would cut their deficit 5-2.
Then in the sixth
Jessica Williams singled to center and replaced by Jasmin Runk.
Kayla Letart then singled down the right field line but both were left stranded at the end of the inning.
Glenville State would then fall 9-2 to Tiffin University.

The Pioneers rallied 12 RBIs, drew five walks and two homeruns on the day.
Karra Smith continued with two hits while also picking up five RBIs including two doubles, with
Ashley Fridley adding four hits to the count.
Kaelyn Stenger and
Ashton Palmer both picked up two hits as Stenger doubled, scoring two RBIs and two runs
On the mound Ashely Fridley and
Kaylee Drake picked up two losses as the Blue and White tallied just three strikeouts.
