GSC Softball Swept Against Yellow Jackets

Glenville, W.Va. – Pioneer Softball dropped a pair of ball games against Cedarville University 5-0 and 8-0 as the Blue and White fall 2-6 on the season.
 
How It Happened
 
Game One:
 
Cedarville gained a quick 2-0 lead after the first then extending to a 4-0 lead. Calla Cooksey ended the Yellow Jackets no hitter with a double to left but left stranded as CU held a 4-0 advantage after three complete.
 
In the top half of the fifth, CU would cross another Yellow Jacket holding a 5-0 lead.
 
With one last crack at the bats, Mackenzie Martinelli doubled to center however falling 5-0 in game one of their double header matchup.
 
Game Two:
 
Early in the first, the Yellow Jackets scored four runs off four hits carrying out a 4-0 lead until the fifth.
 
Then mimicking game one, in the third Peyton Wrentz ended CU's no hitter off a single to right but thrown out at second.
 
An inning later Catherine Pelfrey singled to center though would be singled out off Karra Smith's fielder's choice as they trailed 5-0 in the fourth.
 
In the fifth, CU added another run before extending their advantage 8-0 to end the ball game.
 
Inside The Box Score
 
The Pioneers wholesomely picked up just four hits in two games as Kaylee Drake and Peyton Wrentz both took the loss on the mound today. Drake gave up just five hits as Wrentz tallied three strike outs on the day.
 
Mackenzie Martinelli, Calla Cooksey, Catherine Pelfrey and Peyton Wrentz each picked up a hit on the day.

Glenville State will face off against Carlow University tomorrow at 11:00am at the Sue Morris Complex.
